Mailmaster, how come so cheap?

Mailmaster
Letterboxes is a division of a manufacturing company that has been involved with the design and manufacture of mailboxes  since 1985.

Once making letterboxes in high volume production for the hardware industries and subsequently losing it's market to oversees imports, Mailmaster now offers many of its letterboxes direct to the end consumer.

Protective Coatings : Disclaimer
                                       GO BACK

Protective Coatings, such as clear lacquer, were originally intended to give shelf life to the fittings. Modern improved lacquers give protection for some time during use, but are subject to deterioration and discoloration depending on the atmosphere to which fittings are exposed. As opposed to commonly used "Air-drying" lacquer, we use the best available baked-enamel lacquering process. However, sea/air pollution, perfumes, soaps and a damp atmosphere may affect any lacquer. The Finish on outdoor fittings will last much less than that on indoor fittings.
Discoloration and deterioration in finish should be viewed not as a defect, but rather a normal and unavoidable process. Lacquer coatings cannot, therefore, be guaranteed nor claims accepted in this regard. Damage caused to metal finishes by acids whilst cleaning brickwork etc or by paints, solvents and chemicals while painting doors etc. can be readily identified as such we cannot warrant claims where this has occurred. Please ensure that fittings are adequately protected during construction. It is recommended that door fittings be removed prior to the application of paint, varnish or other forms of protective coatings to doors and surrounding areas.

Protective Coatings : Maintenance
The life of lacquer may be greatly extended by regular application of a premium quality wax polish such as "Mr. Sheen" ™. We strongly recommend such sensible maintenance. Should an item require re-lacquering, all traces of old lacquer must be first removed with acetone or lacquer thinners, and items re-polished and re-lacquered with clear lacquers such as "Wattyl Incralac"™. Avoid use of caustic strippers which may corrode brass.

Plated Finishes
A selected range of products is available in plated finishes such as Antique Bronze, Bright Chrome and Satin Chrome. For larger requirements, we can offer fittings in other finishes including powder coated colours. When selecting a finish, it is important that climatic conditions and usage be taken into consideration as some finishes are susceptible to deterioration as a result of exposure to corrosive vapours, coastal air, humidity, salt spray, steam, pollution etc. For these reasons, plated finishes cannot be guaranteed nor replaced.

Warranty
We provide a 5-year warranty against mechanical defects for our entire range of fittings used for domestic applications. For the reasons mentioned above, this warranty obviously cannot be extended to lacquering and finishes.

Specifications
We seek to improve continuously, we reserve the right to make product modifications. Please check on current product design and specifications prior to purchase.

Dimensions
All measurements indicate maximum dimensions. Unless otherwise mentioned, all dimensions are shown in millimetres. As items are hand-finished, sizes may vary slightly.

Installation

The letter box plates can be installed directly into your course of block or brick work at the time of installation. This is usually done by your bricklayer who will grout in the plates and use a piece of FC sheeting to lay across the top (Lintel)  and then continue laying his blocks or bricks over this.
It however is common practice these days to have a sleeve fitted to these plates. These are usually made from a galvanized steel. We can supply all brass plates with your nominated sleeve size.
When ordering and you a require a sleeve, please go to "Sleeves" and pick the suitable item for your shopping cart. You will have an option there to pick a sleeve with a standard cast aluminum back plate, or if you have selected a brass back plate to then just select a sleeve only.  All units will be sent out fully assembled. If you need help please call our toll free number.
